Heinävaara heinäkuussa. Ulkokiikut oli vähissä tänä vuonna. Sain kuitenkin Hyllyn kiivettyä. Yllätin itsenikin, koska ei ollut odotuksia. Antti napsi seiskoja rallatellen tuona päivänä, kauheen vahva. Antin juttuja voi tsiigailla täältä: http://kiviapina.blogspot.fi/

Käytiin varmaan vuosi sitten Kontiolahden seinää kattomassa. Koulun seinä on rakennettu, huh, kymmenen vuotta sitten, arviolta. Kuvassa Jussi koukkaa nurkan takaa.

Keidas

Käväsin keitaalla. Mikon kanssa siin vähä lämppäiltiin ja ekan hien hieman haihduttua kiipesin muutaman metrin jyrkkää. Sami on ilmeisesti ominut ton seinän, koska teki tiukkaa päästä ylös edes kaikilla otteilla, mutta onnistuihan se sit lopulta.

Kun lompsin sisälle halliin, siinä oli joku kundi morsmaikkunsa kanssa hölkkäämässä tollasella verttijuoksumatolla. Vaikka hinta oli suolainen, 15e 15min, päätin antaa Climbstationille mahdollisuuden. Mikon kanssa maksettiin puokkeen. Kirveli puolet vähemmän, ku funtsittiin, että palautumisesta ei tartte maksaa. Toinen kiipee toisen palautellessa.

Meinasin aluksi pettyä, kun en löytänyt säätöjä manuaaliseen 45kulmaan, mutta saatiin parametrit kohilleen ja rullaus päälle. Vaativin pre-set profiili eli "rata" kaikilla otteilla ei oikein tuntunut missään, mut se nelivitonen kyllä tuntui. Tuloksena oli 30 metriä raakaa repimistä muutamassa minuutissa ja syke katossa, kerran tais otekin lipsua. Meno oli välillä hieman nykivää, jos ei pysynyt laitteen vauhdissa. Nahat lähti kämmenistä, joka on tyypillinen seuraus voimakkaasta kahvoittelusta.

Oli ihan siistii, mutta ei välttämättä tuu mentyä toista kertaa. Meno vois olla hieman smuutimpaa. Jos jäi roikkumaan hieman pidemmäksi ajaksi pumpin takia, kyyti muuttui töksyväksi. Ja arvata saattaa miten hyvältä hauiksissa tuntuu kauheessa pumpissa sellanen pikku rytkytys.

On tolle laitteelle varmasti käyttöä eipä siinä. Esim. niille, jotka haluu kiivetä metrejä, mutta pelottaa kiivetä korkealle tai ei osaa vielä köysitellä. Hyvä intro varsinkin niille, jotka ovat täysin uusia tämän lajin piirissä. Varma hitti muksuille ja varttuneemmille polttareihin. Kokeneemmat tartteis sitte vähä monipuolisemmin inspiroivempia, vaikeampia, siistimpiä otteita, että se pystysuora tai lähes suora kävis houkuttelevaksi. Hinta, niin, sekin tietty vois olla pikkasen hillitympi keitaalla, että menisin toisen kerran.

Stationin 10-20 asteen nega tuntui toimivan parhaiten ja sitä jakso kiivetä 60metriä helposti putkeen ilman sen suurempia sheikkejä. Voihan se olla, että matto maksaa itsensä takaisin parempana kuntona, kun sillä vaan jaksaa hölkätä.

Findings

Here are couple of links that caught my eye during last week:
1) Transgression fingerboard, check video. I think that the concept is good, but perhaps little monotonic and there are better fingerboards. I was thinking of buying it, but my tip is instead of spending over 100e to a board like this, buy two holds and then insert a 5mm rim under the semi good edges. There you go, you have your own Trans-finger-fertilizer, no offense to Eva López. This way you can change the edges to smaller and smaller until both hands are capable to hang on the 5 millimeter rim. Case closed. (yes, and in purpose I wrote 5mm than 6mm, cos then you are harder than trans... I mean gressor)

2) Brad Weaver at RRG. Seems to be a place to visit one day. Jiiz what routes..

Berlin & Heinävaara

Couple of weeks only travelling, alot. The beginning of July was pretty intensive in the sense of training, so little off time was needed. We went to Germany, Berlin for a friends wedding and some wind power business. Before the fly back I managed to go for a quick set in Kegel. The only climbing in 10 days!! Flashed some competition boulders, perhaps 6a-6b, which is my standard at the moment. Here are some pics from Kegel.

We drove more or less straight to Joensuu to continue well started holidays. Had to make a visit to Heinis, which still is my home crag. Very many good memories, that's where I started rock climbing.
This time I went there with Sami Koponen, who was on fire like totally, redpointing sevens in a row. This was impressive to witness. The weather was hot, I mean really hot, as the crag is facing west. Perhaps it was the heat or German diet (wurst + pilsner) or both that made me feel really insecure in leading. The thing in climbing is that it is 1/3 physical, 1/3 mental and the rest is just balls.


During my history, before climbing took the major role in my hobbyes, I used to go fly fishing. On the way back to Turku we checked couple of nice rivers. This one is called Kerman kosket. A reknown trout place. Water is crystal. Good place to spend time and relax, after all, the catch isn't the most important, because you are the one that is hooked.

Kyllä mitä tätä Suomen skeneä on nähny, ni kyllä Joensuu vetää kärkeen seuroista, vai mitä, hä? Siellä on Pasi ja Areena ja Ansa ja Kooteeoot ja Pikku Henkka ja Rantakylä, UC:n juuret, Kuntokeitaan se erilainen kössikoppi, ihmiset on oikeesti aitoja ja se legendaarinen LENTOKENTÄN BOULDERI, josta sillon ku ukki borealit osti, ni mitää tajunnu. Lisäks on jokiasemaa, tietysti heiniksen kaikki vitoset ja ilosaaren aikaan kaikkia panettaa. Kohta lähen takas Pohjois-Karjalaan. Pitäkää status korkeella, on mahtavat mahdollisuudet teillä siellä.

Perhosia Turussa 27

Perhaps the best way for a climber to end and start a year is climbing out. Well, in the north the luck for having a holiday and a weather window at the same time is very rare, but not impossible it seems:) At new year's eve we went bouldering to Ravattula. It's a quite large crag for roping and brave bouldering.

I spent the Christmas time in Joensuu, surrounded by a lot of snow, but it didn't prevent us from slacklining in a kind of a blizzard:) New experience, but not so hardcore as I would have thought. The summer touch came back in five minutes despite the winter boots, well, perhaps the Salitos Cerveza helped us little;)
Here we have a collection of pics of the last two weeks. Have to say, that the Turku weather conditions are favourable for bouldernist! My notice for last half a year have been: "If the streets are dry, the boulders are dry!" And it was true again. Somehow unbeliveable, that couple of hundred kilometers inland there is real winter, but in Turku almost butterflies are flying, great!

Memories 19

Yesterday I got positive feedback about my blog from a friend, thanks!:) It was nice to hear that my pics and writings here gave new thoughts and motivation, so i dedicate this blog entry to all of my good friends around the globe, to Joensuu posse, to Rollon kiikku, Turku, Helsinki, Macon in France, Ireland, Swizz, Austria, Spain, Belgium, Czech, Hungary and also to Germany to Kleme. It was great bouldering for the last time before you went back to german 8a.nu ;)

Even if communication to distant friends isn't on everday basis, my far a way friends and climber buddies are on my mind time to time for sure. Would be great to hear more from all of you, wouldn't it? So if you got far a way friends, send some mail, sms, news or organize happy reunion right now, cos nothing is better than good old friends!

Liperi block offered really good friction last saturday. My first time visiting that boulder, managed to flas stuff and it made my day! (2008, syyskuu 24)

Liperin kivi. Siitä jäi hyviä muistoja. Flässäilin kutosta. Kutonen on maailman paras greidi, siitä lisää joskus toiste. Voisin käydä millon vaan sekondailemassa ja viilistelemässä Liperin boulderilla. Kuulemma siellä on jokin toinenenkin kivi lähellä, tä? Jussi K. Hoida hommas pj:nä ja laita 27kräksiin updeitit, ok?respekt. Ainii, ja saksan lupaus kiipeilylle näyttää perus-freesiltä kuvissa:) 2008, veljet.
